WHAT HAPPENED LAST
YEAR?
Last year's festival was a blast and we received over 100 entries...not
bad for our first year. Opening night was near capacity and a diverse
audience helped us to celebrate our first year. Battling the season's
first storm and the Rolling Stones --who were only two blocks away!--
festival goers partied to live Brazilian jazz (courtesy of James Henry
and Samba, Samba), hors d'oeuvres and tasteful Pinot Noir from Vision Cellars winery --an
African-American owned and operated winery. Guests also enjoyed an
impromptu African dance celebration. Filmmaker Sylvia Hamilton joined
us ...all the way from Novia Scotia! We can't wait for this year's
festivities.
CHANGES TO THE FESTIVAL
We jokingly are referring to this year as our "bigger and blacker"year!
This year's festival will involve a season of film screenings and
activities throughout the spring and summer of 2004. In collaboration
with local organizations, companies and groups, we will be bringing
classic cinema, sneak preview screenings, private screenings and mini
screenings.
