WHAT DOES A GENETICIST DO?     DNA - what genes contain
Every living thing including plants, water creatures and people, has genes. They are part of the building blocksmicroscope of life and contain characteristics that make the life form what it is. In human beings, genes carry the traits and characteristics that are inherited from the person's parents. A geneticist is a scientist that studies genes and their characteristics. He or she also studies the way that genes act and what they do. For some genes cause illness or afflictions.

Geneticist Geneticists study genes in the hope of being able to correct genetic problems and make for a better world by curing illness and creating better plants, including food plants.

To become a geneticist, one must attend an institution of higher learning such as a college or university and study the scientists including, of course, genetics.  graduate's hat, diploma, etc.
ALFRED     Alfred
Alfred was not well. His parents feared that he might not live very much longer because of a condition that he had. Though many doctors examined him and agreed what the problem was, they could not agree on its cause or its treatment. However, his parents did not give up. They continued to take him to doctors and ask if they could cure him. The answer was always no until the took Alfred to Doctor Ansil.
Dr. Ansil
Doctor Ansil examined Alfred and noticed that his illness was similar to a condition that he had read about in a recent magazine article. He made a full report of the conditions caused by Alfred's illness and sent it to the doctors who were mentioned in the magazine article that he read.

A few days later, Dr. Ansil received a telephone call from one of those doctors who asked to see Alfred. That doctor, Doctor Sperio, was a geneticist who specialized in inherited diseases, illnesses that were passed from parents to their children by genes. In this case, Alfred's parent had never had the disease, but his mother had an uncle who had died many years before from a similar condition, though she had forgot about it until Doctor Ansil asked about it at the request of Dr. Sperio.
Drs. Sperio & Ansil
Dr. Sperio traveled a long way to examine Alfred and, when she had done so, she confirmed that the illness was inherited and, more important, that it could be treated due to a discovery of its source made by Dr. Sperio and her colleagues a few years earlier. The treatment was new and took many months but Alfred is now healthy and need no longer fear the effects of the illness that had bothered him for so long. His parents could not thank Drs. Ansil and Sperio enough for what they did for him. They gave him back his life.
