Grateful Dead fans unite. The David Nelson Band is returning to town. Nelson is a Rock veteran, having played on three Dead records and having founded New Riders of the Purple Sage, not to mention being a member of the Jerry Garcia Acoustic Band. Nelson and his band (made up of former members of Jefferson Starship, Ratdog and JGB) have continued to keep in musical contact with other Dead members, with members playing this summer with Dead bassist Phil Lesh for a couple shows. Of course, The David Nelson Band has their own thing going too: the band's latest, Visions Under the Moon, has that familiar spirit, an accomplished collection of classic, rootsy Rock sound.

At BarrelHouse on Sunday.
