Heavy Weather

This weekend brings the first "Soul Shakedown Party," presented by the folks at Camp Buzz and Admrial Walker and featuring four regional Soul/Reggae/Rock groups at the Mad Frog. On Friday night, it's local favorites Heavy Weather (pictured) headlining. Between consistent touring, the local purveyors of "FunkyRockSoulMusic" are currently working on their fourth release which is to be released in June. Joining them are pals Funktelligence, a Funk/Hip Hop band from Ann Arbor, Michigan. Saturday night, you can catch the superb local Reggae/Dancehall outfit Admiral Walker. The group will be releasing a live CD of their set at the Ray's Music Exchange New Year's Eve party at the Southgate House and they are currently busy finishing up their debut studio release (due sometime in the early spring) as well as a collaborative single with Hip Hop collaborative Animal Crackers. AW will be joined by Lexington's Catawampus Universe. Admrial Walker's set will be broacast live Saturday starting at midnight on WAIF (88.3 FM) on the Live City Licks program. You can purchase advanced tickets through the Mad Frog ($6 for one night/$10 for both).
Friday and Saturday at the Mad Frog.
