December 6, 2003 --
The five Mexican immigrants charged with savagely assaulting a woman in Queens were so anxious to rape the mom they got into a heated physical argument over who would "have relations" with her first, one of the attackers said yesterday.
Victor Cruz, 22, said the fight erupted after he and his four cohorts beat and robbed the woman and her male companion, and then dragged their female prey to a dilapidated hut along the Long Island Rail Road tracks near the Shea Stadium station.
"They all started fighting," said Cruz, as he pleaded guilty to rape, kidnapping and robbery for the Dec. 19, 2002, attack.
"They all wanted to have relations with her [first]."
The admission by Cruz, who said his real name is Hugo Hernandez, assures him no more than 20-23 years in prison - less than half the 50 years he would have faced had he been convicted at trial.
He is required to testify if necessary against co-defendants Luis Carmona, 22, Armando Juvenal, 21, Jose Hernandez, 23, and Carlos Rodriguez, 23.
