ASK THE VET

By DR. MICHAEL FOX
DEAR DR. FOX: I have a 12-year-old dog and she has had "red mange" since she was a puppy. The answer has been mitaban, but it is no longer available. My current vet suggested Tactic dip. He assured me my dog would not suffer any more difficulties, but the dip apparently affected her nervous system. For 12 to 15 hours, she could not control herself enough to stand up. Are there any home remedies available? I would like to steer away from the obviously harmful, possibly deadly treatments. - S.B., Springfield, Mo.
