If you're looking to stave that New Year's Eve hangover off well into the new year, we highly recommend the debauched Rock & Roll swagger of Detroit's bastard sons The Trash Brats. Live, the group shows a loving debt to the New York Dolls, with a perverse energy and cheap-lingerie stage wear. The band's music has the late '60s/early '70s proto-Punk stamp of Motown's finest, with a dirty boogie and snotty temperament that would make a Raw Power-era Iggy smirk through the drool. Of course, any band can put on ladies underwear and strut around to Back in the U.S.A., but the Brats also show an impressive, ever-developing musical and songwriting ability that sets them apart. The band's outrageousness and sheer refusal to go away (they've been at it for over 13 years) have made them infamously legendary around the region, especially in their hometown. The group are currently out supporting their latest release, American Tragedy.
