Wow! That was a quick summer! Signs of seasonal change are obvious when the fall community education brochure arrives from THE ART ACADEMY OF CINCINNATI, packed with arty things for everyone. Children's extra art activities are one of the Academy's specialties, with a multi-generational history behind it. Seven varieties of art are on the agenda, ranging from "Art Fundamentals" to "Jr. High Painting." There's still time to request a catalog, and dream over the choices. Info: 513-562-8748

One of our area's finest realists, DAVID MUELLER, is offering a four-day oil landscape-painting workshop, sponsored by the Mason Art Association. Since 1989, when Mueller came to Cincinnati, his work has attracted applause from everyone who loves good landscape. Plein aire painting at Winton Woods, Sept. 7-10. Cost: $275. There are just a very few spaces left, so run to the nearest phone and call J. Boone at 513-791-7044.

Put this one on your calendar now. The KZF Gallery presents Creating A Delicate Impact, starring work by BUKANG KIM, GENE H. SOWLES and NELLE FERRARA, opening on Aug. 17, at 5:30 p.m. These opening receptions are beautifully done, showcasing fine art with the perfect send-off. There is, by the way, very little about Kim's work that could be termed delicate: This little lady zaps the heck out of art. Info: 513-621-6211.

And with a regularity that never fails, VIEWPOINT 2000's application appeared in the mail. ViewPoint's 32nd annual open juried exhibit ... no small thing in an inconstant art world. This is also its fifth to draw from national applicants as it continues onward and outward. Info: 859-331-573

For those who do the annual "leaf-watcher's trek" to the Northeast in the fall, don't miss MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) in North Adams, Mass. Plan to spend a lot of time there. After 10 years of excuses and cop-outs, it's up and running with a ven-geance. Excellent art, huge installations ... a quality job, top to bottom.
