No Screw-Tops
Who says Westsiders only drink Hudy Delight or Little Kings ... we can be upscale when we wanna be. Harrison's MARKET STREET GRILLE can help, with a very affordable wine tasting, Tuesday, Feb. 20, 7-9 p.m. Eric Oatman from West Side Liquors will talk guests through eight different wines in this brief but informative tasting. The $15 per person fee includes hors d'oeuvres from the Grille's kitchen. Call Adam for reservations. 205 Harrison Ave., Harrison. 513-202-0200.

Out of the Frying Pan
What's cooking with P&G;? Folks would never know that the Crisco king is behind the brand-new cooking school and gourmet product boutique at Rookwood Commons (2735 Edmondson Road, Norwood), called CULINARY SOL. The "destination" school/store features an amphitheater kitchen with all the hi-tech bells and whistles, including big screen monitors and a Thermador®-equipped demonstration kitchen. Folks in the hands-on classes are pampered chefs as well, with state-of-the-art equipment at the 12 stations. P&G; is the source of the Culinary Sol line of cooking products (available only at the store for now), including flavored oils, vinegars, spices, rubs and marinades.

Although some products are incorporated into classes, marketing the line doesn't seem to be the primary focus for now ... perhaps the marketing gurus are hoping to build a little excitement or loyalty first. That doesn't appear to be a problem: Classes are already filling up completely in advance for many sessions. Participation levels range from demonstrations by local celebrity chefs to hands-on, dinner and dancing classes, where students make salsa, then learn to salsa all in one evening. Info: www.culinarysol.com or 513-841-2665.
