Europa! Europa!
Cliftonites, rejoice! BIAGIO'S BISTRO has opened in the old home of the much-missed Petersen's restaurant on Ludlow Avenue, bringing a touch of Europe to the neighborhood. The menu, still something of a work in progress, emphasizes Italian cuisine, European breads and pastries, with an assortment of soups, salads and sandwiches.

The restaurant has been beautifully renovated and continues the location's support of the visual arts with an intriguing exhibit of black-and-white photographs by Adam Leigh-Manuel. The most surprising renovation is the open kitchen in the middle of the Bistro, which allows patrons to watch Biagio Lamassa as he cooks up homemade pasta dishes. The Dish's crack team of reporters had a chance to sample the Cappuccino -- a specialty of Lamassa, who has been making the frothy java since he was eight years old -- and all agreed that he is indeed a master of the art. 308 Ludlow Ave. 861-4777.

It's an Organic Affair
AUTUMN SUNDAY BUFFET DINNERS are back at Grailville, served the first Sunday of each fall month. October's menu is an organic affair, featuring Amish Free Range Garlic Chicken (those simple chickens who live a Spartan existence without electricity or cable TV, but who enjoy life to the fullest, clucking and fluttering over hill and dale and are all the more tasty for it) and Vegetarian Stuffed Tofu. Seating times are 5 and 6:30 p.m. Sunday. $12; $5 for children 4-10; children under 4 eat free. Grailville Education and Conference Center, 932 O'Bannonville Rd., Loveland. 683-2340.

In a Gadda Daveeda, Baby!
DAVEED'S AT 934 is now open in Mount Adams with an eclectic, contemporary menu of New American Cuisine. The restaurant also boasts a selection of affordable wines. Reservations recommended. 934 Hatch St. 721-2665.
