Accident on 12 November 2001 in New York

The aviation disaster that occurred on 12 November 2001 in New York has once again plunged the international aviation community and the United States of America into mourning.

In accordance with international regulations, and without prejudging the causes of this disaster, the technical investigation is being undertaken by the National Transportation Safety Board, assisted by representatives of France, the State of Manufacture of the aircraft.

Consequently, a team of BEA investigators and advisers from Airbus has left for the United States. They will work in close liaison with the American investigators.

As is customary, the BEA will strictly comply with international agreements as regards releasing information on the investigation. The release of such information falls within the province of the NTSB.
