Phila. icon Longstreth dies at 83
W. Thacher Longstreth, 83, whose image as a courtly councilman changed in his last years amid deteriorating health and a court battle pitting his family against his fiancee, died of a pulmonary embolism early yesterday at Naples (Fla.) Community Hospital.

Marvin I. Hirsch, decorated vet
Marvin I. Hirsch, 92, a decorated World War II Army hero who was wounded in the Battle of the Bulge, died Tuesday in Springfield Residence in Chestnut Hill.

Eleanor Jean Delaney | Homemaker, 79
Eleanor Jean Delaney, 79, a homemaker in West Chester, died Tuesday in Chester County Hospital after suffering a heart attack. Mrs. Delaney devoted herself to her family, but she was also a dedicated rock collector and gardener and taught Sunday school classes at Advent Lutheran Church, where she had been a member.

Harry J. McGinness, 58, retired lieutenant colonel
Harry J. McGinness, 58, a retired Army lieutenant colonel who saw action in the Vietnam War, died of head and neck cancer Sunday at his home in Middletown Township, Delaware County.

1937-1941 - Attends Princeton University. 1941 - Marries Anne "Nancy" Strawbridge Claghorn. 1942-1945 - Serves in the U.S. Navy. 1955 - Fails in run for mayor.

Clayton N. "Cy" Eastlack Jr., 86, of Pine Valley, retired president of Ace Motor Sales in Woodbury and a longtime community activist and columnist, died of heart failure Sunday at Underwood-Memorial Hospital in Woodbury.

Babatunde Olatunji, 75, the Nigerian drummer who helped introduce the power and intricacy of African music to the United States, has died.
