Burnett starts strong |
A.J. Burnett, making his first start of the season, allowed two runs on five hits in seven innings against the Mets on April 9.
"I think it went well," said Burnett, who was projected to be the Opening-Day starter, but began the season on the disabled list because of tendinitis in his right elbow. "That I was able to go that far and keep the team in it I think is all right." The right-hander threw only 80 pitches and finished with four strikeouts and two walks. "A.J. was amazing," said manager Jeff Torborg. "What an outing, his first time out." |

SCOUTING REPORT (FROM STATS INC.) | ||||
A.J. Burnett, Pitching Burnett's fastball alone is a devastating weapon. Throwing freer and easier than ever after the spring adjustment, he hit 96 MPH with regularity with his underrated two-seamer, and had several four-seamers clocked at 101. His curve is a classic over-the-top pitch, but he also learned to drop his arm ... More | Roster | Player Index |
