Last rankings of the year and it's the Eagles on top. We had Philly No. 3 at the beginning of the season, so we feel pretty good on that one.
The Rams were obviously the big miss. St. Louis entered the season as our No. 1 team in the Power Rankings and struggled to a 7-9 finish and a tie for the 24th spot. So we aren't perfect, oh well.

|
1 |
Eagles |
12-4-0 |
Eight of the last 12 NFC teams with home-field advantage have made the Super Bowl. |
|
2 |
Raiders |
11-5-0 |
Raiders' offense has been much more balanced in recent weeks. It cost Rich Gannon a chance to break Marino's record, but it could help in the playoffs. |
|
3 |
Buccaneers |
12-4-0 |
Win over the Bears was big. Bucs get first-round bye and break their streak of 20 straight losses when it's under 40 degrees. |
|
4 |
Packers |
12-4-0 |
Ouch -- Packers go from a chance at home-field throughout the playoffs to having to play a first-round game. |
|
4 |
Titans |
11-5-0 |
At 1-4 and coming off a 31-14 loss to the Redskins, there couldn't have been too many people predicting a first-round bye in the playoffs for Tennessee. |
|
6 |
Steelers |
10-5-1 |
The saying goes that it's difficult to beat a team three times. Steelers fans better hope that's not true. |
|
7 |
Jets |
9-7-0 |
As important as Chad Pennington's emergence has been, the return to health and prominence of Curtis Martin is as significant. |
|
8 |
Giants |
10-6-0 |
Jeremy Shockey is a loudmouth, but he's flat out good and might be the biggest reason why the Giants are in the playoffs. |
|
9 |
Colts |
10-6-0 |
The loss of Qadry Ismail could hurt the Colts in the playoffs. He's not great, but it will make Indy that much more dependent on Marvin Harrison. |
|
10 |
49ers |
10-6-0 |
If the 49ers go down in the first round -- and it looks like they could -- Steve Mariucci could be in serious trouble. |
|
11 |
Falcons |
9-6-1 |
Falcons fans can't be too confident after their team lost its way into the playoffs. |
|
12 |
Browns |
9-7-0 |
In a strange NFL season, it's still sort of hard to believe that the Browns are in the playoffs. But they're clearly a different team with a solid running game. |
|
13 |
Patriots |
9-7-0 |
It's pretty clear that the Patriots need to get some weapons around Tom Brady. The trick plays can only work for so long. |
|
14 |
Broncos |
9-7-0 |
Clinton Portis was a big shining bright spot in what has to be considered a disappointing season in Denver. |
|
15 |
Dolphins |
9-7-0 |
NFL's leading rusher and leading sack man and they didn't make the playoffs. |
|
16 |
Saints |
9-7-0 |
We've noticed a distinct lack of e-mail from New Orleans in the last few weeks. Maybe there's some computer virus that's only affecting the Big Easy? |
|
17 |
Chiefs |
8-8-0 |
Trent Green's status in Kansas City should be watched. He's due an $8 million roster bonus which the Chiefs will surely want to reduce. |
|
18 |
Bills |
8-8-0 |
Biggest offseason question: What to do with Peerless Price? Do you re-sign him and sink all your money in the offense or do you concentrate on the defense? |
|
19 |
Chargers |
8-8-0 |
With LT and Drew Brees there's plenty to look forward to. But the Chargers might want to improve their NFL-worst pass defense. |
|
20 |
Ravens |
7-9-0 |
Ravens will get a lot of preseason playoff publicity next season. |
|
21 |
Seahawks |
7-9-0 |
Second highest rated passer in the NFC? Try Matt Hasselbeck, who has opened some eyes this year. |
|
22 |
Redskins |
7-9-0 |
It will be interesting to see what Steve Spurrier does this offseason. |
|
23 |
Vikings |
6-10-0 |
Moral victories are hard to swallow some times, but the Vikings should have a lot of momentum heading into next season. |
|
24 |
Panthers |
7-9-0 |
Panthers fans have to be pretty excited about next season when the playoffs could be a reasonable goal. |
|
24 |
Rams |
7-9-0 |
The Rams will be an interesting team to watch this offseason, with Kurt Warner's status with the team drawing the most attention. |
|
26 |
Jaguars |
6-10-0 |
If the Jags want to separate GM and coach, Dennis Green might not be the best fit. |
|
27 |
Cardinals |
5-11-0 |
Signing Marcel Shipp is a good sign for Cardinals fans. Arizona certainly hasn't been known for being proactive in signing young players. |
|
28 |
Cowboys |
5-11-0 |
Bill Parcells will make the Cowboys instantly better, no question. |
|
29 |
Bears |
4-12-0 |
Henry Burris is a nice story, but we gotta figure he's not the long-term answer at QB for the Bears. |
|
30 |
Texans |
4-12-0 |
Pretty decent season for the Texans to build on. |
|
31 |
Lions |
3-13-0 |
Maybe Marty Mornhinweg deserves another season, but 0-16 on the road in two seasons is pretty bad. |
|
32 |
Bengals |
2-14-0 |
Is Cincinnati's new coach going to have anything more to work with than Dick LeBeau? |
