Jevon Kearse's is scheduled to have foot surgery Feb. 13, and negotiations for his new contract are scheduled to begin soon, The Tennessean reported Feb. 7. It's the second surgery in roughly five months for the defensive, who cracked the bone on the outside of his left foot on the second play of the season opener against the Eagles on Sept. 8. He had a screw inserted to hold the bone together before and will undergo a bone graft procedure this time. "He'll be better than ever, and this operation is not a complex procedure," said agent Drew Rosenhaus, who represents Kearse. ''It's a no-brainer, really."
Diamond gets extension
The Titans extended the contract of president and chief executive officer Jeff Diamond on Feb. 7. Terms and the length of the contract were not disclosed. Diamond, whose contract expired Feb. 1, has been with the Titans four seasons. A 27-year veteran of the NFL, he spent 23 years with the Vikings before joining the Titans in 1999. During his time with Tennessee, the Titans have advanced to the playoffs three times, won two division titles and went to a Super Bowl. Said Diamond: "We have accomplished a lot as an organization over the last four years, and we hope to build on that foundation."
