Scouting Report

Pitching, Defense & Hitting
When he's on, Darensbourg puts hitters on their heels with a 91-94 MPH fastball and puts lefties away with a sharp slider. He struggled with his slider much of the season, one reason why lefthanders hit almost .300 against him. He was better against righthanded batters, mainly because his changeup was more consistent than the slider. A wiry athlete, Darensbourg fields his position and holds runners well, allowing just one stolen-base attempt. He had no plate appearances in 2001.
