ThankYou

Counting calories adds up over the holidays
All calories are not created equal. After years of painstaking research into the phenomenon of seasonal weight gain and loss, and careful study of the holiday eating habits of perpetually thin friends and relatives, I have come to the conclusion that much of what weight-loss "experts" would have us believe about the relationship between caloric intake/expenditure and the resulting weight loss or gain is, in fact, hooey.

Photographer Mike Frazier honors Pleasant Gap firefighters with exhibit
Mike Frazier had a simple idea. He wanted to put a face on the Pleasant Gap Fire Department. He wound up with nearly two dozen. This fall, as a tribute, Frazier took portraits of 22 of the department's volunteer firefighters. He and State College photographer Tony Rader posed each in his station uniform, without the helmets and jackets that sometimes cloak them in anonymity on emergency calls.
