Pa. House OKs land for prison, fire school
Commissioners and firefighters alike were giving thanks Wednesday after learning a bill granting land for both the new county prison and firefighter training site met with unanimous approval in the state House of Representatives.

   Nittany Lions kick defending champion North Carolina out of NCAA tournament
Even the recent snowfall and the coldest temperatures of the season weren't enough to cool off the white-hot Penn State men's soccer team. The Nittany Lions got a goal from Chad Severs in the second sudden-death victory period to knock off defending national champion North Carolina 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship on Wednesday at Jeffrey Field.

Families and friends gathered Wednesday night for an early Thanksgiving celebration at the State College Assembly of God Church. The combined effort of three churches -- Assembly of God, Healing Springs Community Church and the Salvation Army -- pulled together turkey, roast chicken, dessert and all the trimmings for an expected crowd of 500.
