Alexei Yashin, Kenny Jonsson, Claude Lapointe, Adrian Aucoin and Aaron Asham scored for New York, which got 18 saves from Chris Osgood.
Stephane Matteau, Lance Ward and Brad Ference scored for the Panthers.

BOSTON - Brian Rolston scored to tie it in the third period and Steve Shields stopped 30 shots to remain unbeaten as Boston tied Ottawa.
Rolston scored to help the Bruins tie their home opener and move to 4-1-2.
Marian Hossa beat Shields to give Ottawa the lead 4 minutes, 36 seconds into the third.
Boston scored just 22 seconds in when Hal Gill lofted a shot in from the blue line.

NASHVILLE - Teemu Selanne scored in the first period and Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 20 shots as San Jose beat Nashville.
Nashville's Andy Delmore scored a power-play goal at 9:54.
Jonathan Cheechoo helped seal the Sharks' win with a second-period goal.

CHICAGO - Andrew Brunette scored twice in the third period and backup goalie Dwayne Roloson stopped 24 shots for his first win this season as Minnesota defeated Chicago.
Brunette's power-play goal at 6:08 of the third snapped a 1-1 tie. His even-strength goal at 10:07 made it 3-1.
