ORLANDO, Fla. - Dirk Nowitzki scored 16 of his 23 points in the third quarter, and the Dallas Mavericks beat the Orlando Magic 102-95 Thursday night in the final exhibition game for both.
Nowitzki made four 3-pointers in the third, the last putting Dallas ahead 76-69 with 59.2 seconds remaining.
Mike Miller's jumper in the final period gave Orlando a 78-77 lead, but a 13-0 run put the Mavericks in front to stay.
Michael Finley had 15 points and Raef LaFrentz added 14 for the Mavericks. Dallas made 15 of 17 free throws.
Orlando was led by Tracy McGrady with 20 points and seven rebounds. Miller added 14 points, Jacque Vaughn 12 and Pat Burke 10. Rookie reserve Ryan Humphrey contributed 13 points and 11 rebounds.
The Magic shot 42.7 percent from the field, going 1-for-12 on 3-pointers.
Orlando's Grant Hill missed his first preseason game because of the flu. Darrell Armstrong also was out with a strained shoulder, and Horace Grant missed his eighth game as he continues to recover from offseason knee surgery.
Popeye Jones sat out for Dallas because of back spasms.
