CHICAGO (AP) - Sergei Berezin scored twice on first-period power plays and Jocelyn Thibault stopped 34 shots Sunday night to lead the Chicago Blackhawks to a 3-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks.
San Jose goaltender Evgeni Nabokov made 18 saves in his first game since he ended a holdout last Tuesday by signing a two-year contract.
Tyler Arnason finished with a goal and an assist, and Alex Zhamnov had two assists for the Blackhawks, who snapped a three-game winless streak (0-2-1). Chicago was 3-for-8 on the power play.
Mike Ricci and Vincent Damphousse scored for the Sharks, who had won their previous two games.
Berezin opened the scoring with a power-play goal 2:33 into the first period. He connected from the left edge of the crease after a pass from Steve Thomas.
Berezin made it 2-0 during a power play with 7:58 left in the first. Stationed again at the left side of the net, he one-timed in Arnason's cross-ice pass.
Ricci cut it to 2-1 with a shorthanded goal at 3:25 of the second. He pounced on a loose puck in the crease and fired past Thibault.
Arnason gave Chicago a 3-1 lead with 1:57 left in the second during another Blackhawks power play. Zhamnov's initial shot from the slot was wide but bounced off the back boards into the slot. Arnason poked the loose puck into the net.
Damphousse deflected in a power-play shot at 3:41, cutting the score to 3-2. While driving to the net, he redirected Bryan Marchment's shot from the right wing.
Thibault faced 19 shots in the third period. He stopped several good chances by San Jose after the Sharks closed within a goal.
