Book shows 'how-to' on murals

Can a mural influence young people to stay away from drug abuse? The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy thinks so and hired Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program to produce a handbook on creating murals and using mural arts to "re-channel a young person's negative energy."

This mural by artist Don Gensler on the value of music and family ties is one of 10 created across the country to promote the book. Located at 3413 Haverford Ave., it will be dedicated Wednesday at 5 p.m. This Mural Arts Month event, which will include food and music, is free to the public.
