A whirlwind pace for Fisher, Rendell
With several weeks left before the Nov. 5 election, gubernatorial candidate Ed Rendell looked tired. His exhaustion from more than 42,000 miles on the road did not keep him from his task at hand - an interview with The Inquirer's editorial board on Oct 7. He rattled off facts on school-district funding, medical malpractice and trash disposal in between yawns, all the while slugging down the caffeinated diet soda that he drinks instead of coffee.

Shaky incumbents hold key to power in Congress
The fate of a small band of endangered incumbents from both parties could hold the key on Nov. 5 to the future balance of power in Congress. Four Senate incumbents -- two from each party -- and a half-dozen entrenched House members face potential defeat next Tuesday in races that could spell the difference in the fight for control of the Senate and House.
