Uncoordinated mom brings snow-loving children to Beaver Creek
Here's the truth. I dreaded our trip to Beaver Creek. The night before my two kids and I left for our four-night, three-day winter adventure in Colorado, I kept thinking that the whole thing was a whopping mistake. To begin with, I hadn't skied since high school, when my second and last attempt to get down puny Mount Tom in Massachusetts had ended with a backward, knee-twisting slide followed by an embarrassing ride in the ski-patrol sled.

New England slopes: No frills, same thrills
In New England, where the Killingtons, Stowes and Sunday Rivers dominate reader survey lists, there are still a couple of dozen ski areas that are rarely grouped with the "best," but that deliver a terrific ski or snowboard experience.
