David E. Mann Jr., 80, a professor of pharmacology who used humor to connect with the world around him, especially with his students at Temple University, died Sunday of a cerebral hemorrhage at Abington Memorial Hospital.

Frank Mazzara | Copy editor, 84
Frank Mazzara, 84, a retired copy editor for The Inquirer, died Monday at his home in Northeast Philadelphia of complications following a stroke.

Winifred Ann Jarvis | Executive secretary, 83
Winifred Ann Jarvis, 83, of Clifton Heights, a retired executive secretary, died of aspiration pneumonia Saturday at Bryn Mawr Hospital.

Warren A. Hunter | Lumberyard owner, 78
Warren A. Hunter, 78, of Newtown Square, a former owner of a home supply company who once served as township auditor, died of cancer Saturday at NewSeasons at Devon, an assisted-living community.

William I. Mirkil Jr. | Real estate broker, 80
William I. Mirkil Jr., 80, of Gladwyne, a retired real estate broker, died of heart failure Sunday at Bryn Mawr Hospital. Mr. Mirkil, a lifelong resident of the Main Line, attended William Penn Charter School and St. George's School in Newport, R.I.

Marie P. Bauers | Foundation volunteer, 79
Marie P. Sklaris Bauers, 79, of Hilltown, a former tutor at Abington High School and former president of the volunteer association of the Pearl S. Buck Foundation, died of pulmonary fibrosis Monday at Doylestown Hospital.

James E. Kilpatrick Sr. | Plumbing contractor, 82
James E. Kilpatrick Sr., 82, former owner of a plumbing and heating company, died of lung cancer Sunday at his home in Media. Born in South Philadelphia, Mr. Kilpatrick attended Overbrook High School and worked briefly at General Electric Inc. in Philadelphia before serving overseas with the Marine Corps. He was stationed in the South Pacific during World War II and was discharged in 1945.
