Oilers Slide Past Mighty Ducks 4-3

Brian Swanson had a goal and two assists as the Edmonton Oilers rallied from a two-goal deficit in the third period to beat the Anaheim Mighty Ducks 4-3 on Saturday night.

Swanson scored the winning goal at 17:23 of the third, banging a rebound past Jean-Sebastien Giguere on the power play.

Jason Chimera, Eric Brewer and Mike Comrie also scored for the Oilers, who ended a five-game winless skid (0-4-1).

Petr Sykora scored twice, Mike Leclerc had a goal and Steve Rucchin had three assists for the Mighty Ducks, whose unbeaten streak was stopped at three games.

With the Oilers trailing 3-1, Brewer scored a power-play goal 3:25 into the third. Mike York found Brewer at the point and he one-timed a shot past Giguere.

Chimera tied it at 3-3 at 14:13 when he one-timed Swanson's centering pass for his first goal of the season.

Edmonton has won seven straight at home against Anaheim dating to a 2-1 loss on Feb. 24, 1999. The Oilers also won their first game at home this season.

Sykora opened the scoring with a power-play goal 3:03 in. Rucchin found him alone in front of Tommy Salo.

On his second goal, Sykora fought off a check by York, rushed up ice on a short-handed breakaway and lifted a shot over Salo to put Anaheim up 2-1 at 9:58.

Leclerc made it 3-1 at 11:32 when the puck bounced to him in the circle to Salo's right and his turn-around wrist shot seemed to surprise the goaltender.

Salo was replaced by Jussi Markkanen after Leclerc's goal and Markkanen stopped all 15 shots he faced for the victory.

Comrie put Edmonton on the board at 5:43 of the first, deflecting in a shot by Steve Staios.

Notes:@ Forward Josh Green played his first game of the season for the Oilers after missing the first seven with a lower back strain. ... Anaheim's Adam Oates had surgery to place screws in his left hand on Saturday. He broke the hand in Vancouver on Oct. 24 and is out indefinitely.
