Dixon clinches Top Fuel title

LAS VEGAS - Larry Dixon clinched his first series crown with a second-round win, then went on to his record-tying ninth victory this year in the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals on Sunday.
Dixon whipped down the quarter-mile in 4.613 seconds, 320.28 mph, to top Tony Schumacher in Top Fuel. Schumacher's run took 4.674 seconds and topped out at 314.75.
John Force earned his 105th career victory, getting down the track with a run of 4.820 at 305.22. He beat Funny Car teammate Tony Pedregon's run of 4.869 and 301.94.
Jeg Coughlin won his second Pro Stock title en route to his 31st career win as he finished in 6.969 and 198.55, just ahead of Warren Johnson (6.929 at 199.23).
Angelle Savoie won her third straight Pro Stock Bike series title, and earned the 28th victory of her career with a run of 7.247 at 183.99. Matt Hines was second at 7.218 and 190.65.
