Said ends season with 5th win in a row
The Associated Press
ALTON, Va. - Boris Said ended his historic season Sunday at Virginia International Raceway, winning his fifth consecutive Trans-Am Series race.

It was Said's series-high eighth victory of the season. He is only the third series driver to win eight races in a season. The others were Tom Kendall, who won 11 in 1997, and Mark Donohue, who won 10 in 1968.

Said, who clinched the 2002 Trans-Am drivers' championship at Atlanta two weeks ago, beat Tony Ave by 4.902 seconds.

"This is a big deal for (team owner) Mike Davis and the whole ACS Express team," Said said. "It says a lot that in only three years, they ve built a championship team. I'm just the guy who gets to have the fun, and not only do we win races, our cars don't break."

Said had podium finishes in 11 of 12 starts.

Justin Bell finished third and Butch Leitzinger was fourth, finishing second to Said in the championship.
