Sarver tops Funny Car qualifying
The Associated Press
LAS VEGAS - Bruce Sarver led Funny Car qualifying for the sixth time in his career, topping the field Saturday in the Las Vegas NHRA Nationals.

Sarver set a track elapsed-time record with his quarter-mile run of 4.773 seconds at 317.12 mph.

Doug Herbert, Kurt Johnson and Matt Hines also led their divisions in the ACDelco-sponsored competition, the 23rd of 24 events this season.

Herbert led the Top Fuel cars at 4.537 and 301.13, Johnson topped the Pro Stock qualifiers at 6.921 and 199.20, and Hines led the Pro Stock Bikes at 7.217 and 191.08, both track records.
