Just Go goes to the Oscars

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Mar. 11, 1998 ã | Knight Ridder Real Cities arts and entertainment Just Go web sites invite visitors to participate in all the glamor and excitement of the 70th Annual Academy Awards on the Web. Just Go will provide extensive coverage of the prestigious Oscar program and all the glitz that leads up to the main event. Just Go visitors can get the latest Academy Awards news, interact in Just Go's Oscars forum, cast their own nominee votes, and enter various contests.

"Knight Ridder has been covering the Academy Award news since this eminent event began 70 years ago," said Ken Doctor, vice president editorial, Knight Ridder New Media. "We're bringing the excitement to our global users in a fun and interactive way with our Just Go Web sites."

Just Go Oscars visitors will find photographs, news and reviews, interactive forums, a complete list of nominees, comments and feedback from nominees, and an opportunity to vote for favorites. Users are encouraged to watch the sites for upcoming Oscar and Academy contests to enter.

"As the popularity builds for the Oscars, it is becoming more and more difficult to attend - if you can't be at the Oscars," said Bill Skeet, Just Go product manager, "this is the next best thing. Visitors to our Web sites will have a virtual pass and be able to take part in Hollywood's premiere entertainment event of the season."

Just Go entertainment guides are in the San Francisco Bay Area, Minneapolis/St.Paul, Charlotte, South Florida and Detroit. Sites coming soon include Philadelphia, Myrtle Beach, S.C., Columbia, S.C, and Kansas City.
