For Ippolito, life on the run rich in rewards
Even if she is falling off horses or if horses are falling on her, Ashley Ippolito keeps right on riding and running. The New Hope-Solebury senior has made school history as a cross-country runner, becoming the first Lion to reach four PIAA state meets. At the same time she has been running, Ippolito achieved success in equestrian activities.

Heart attack won't keep Dukes' cross-country coach down

W.C. East shocks the top seed on stunning goal by Harpstead
Because she is primarily a defender, Abbie Harpstead, a field hockey player at West Chester East, does not get many opportunities to take a shot on goal.

Schalick relishing role as underdog
When Schalick meets Shawnee, the defending champion, in the South Jersey Coaches Tournament boys' soccer final at Rutgers-Camden at 7 p.m. Saturday, most will perceive it as David against Goliath.

Most ranked teams taking a beating
Last week was among the most shocking in recent South Jersey girls' soccer history, with upset wins becoming a common occurrence. Thanks mainly to the South Jersey Coaches Tournament, the events of last week demonstrated that parity exists in South Jersey and the difference between being No. 1 and No. 10 can be minimal. It also showed that being a nuclear physicist might be easier than ranking South Jersey's girls' soccer teams.

Soccer's Best back with a vengeance
Sophomore Chiara Best missed seven of the first 12 games for the New Hampshire women's soccer team with a knee injury suffered in the preseason. She has returned with a flourish.

Cherry Hill East saving up for final challenge

Top trio feature top-notch servers
The top three teams in the PIAA District 1 Class AAA volleyball tournament have one thing in common: strong serving. No. 1 Villa Maria Academy, No. 2 Upper Merion, and No. 3 Penncrest have had such potent serves that they have disrupted the offensive flow of their opponents.

Her emotion in motion is happiness
Javi Hartenstine can examine running as a complicated science, and she can enjoy running as the simplest of sports. As the St. Pius X junior pursues running on multiple levels, the competition is pursuing her. Hartenstine won the Pioneer Athletic Conference championship Oct. 16 at Daniel Boone Homestead. In the District 1 Class AA championship meet Friday, she finished fourth in a field of 112 runners with a time of 19 minutes, 22 seconds on Lehigh University's 3.1-mile course. Benching got soccer star focused on goal
Scott Spangler had never watched a soccer game from the bench, and it was the last thing he expected to do as a senior. But there the Strath Haven standout was in the first half of a Central League game against Lower Merion on Sept. 12, seated on the sideline. And he was not happy about it.

S. Jersey Boys | Haddonfield, Schalick win soccer division titles
Get out the needle and thread: The Haddonfield and Schalick boys' soccer teams need championship banners. The Bulldogs clinched the Colonial Conference Liberty Division title yesterday with a 3-1 victory at Woodbury.
