LATEST COLUMN

Sam Donnellon | Fans aren't always harmless
Last Sunday, as Indianapolis players and coaches channeled through the visitors' tunnel at Veterans Stadium following their 35-13 victory, Colts defensive line coach John Teerlinck came to a standstill a few yards short and decided to give something back to the shouting fans.

RECENT COLUMNS

Sam Donnellon | Can't bank on McNabb since big deal
Donovan McNabb is not underperforming since signing his historic 12-year, $115 million contract before the Eagles' fourth game of the season, coach Andy Reid reiterated yesterday. He is not putting too much pressure on himself, not squeezing the ball too hard on passes, as Dan Dierdorf commented while broadcasting Sunday's game against Indianapolis.

Sam Donnellon | More trouble with a good QB
The doors to the Colts' locker room swung open. Amid the initial cluster of eye-wiping media, Ron Jaworski took a hard right to Peyton Manning's locker and began to grill.

Sam Donnellon | Sacking the naysayers
THEY ARE 6-2 and eight points away from a perfect ride. That's right. Screw on the thinking caps a little tighter in Nashville and Jacksonville, eliminate maybe one defensive or special-teams breakdown in each, and the Eagles are a scarless 8-0 halfway through this Super Bowl-serious season.

Sam Donnellon | Dear Jim Thome
An open letter to Jim Thome: Dear Jim, First of all, yea, yippee, hooray - thanks for coming.

Sam Donnellon | A Barry good strategy
They came to be known as "the Barry questions." Each day Angels manager Mike Scioscia would enter an interview room and would be asked about pitching to Barry Bonds in the 98th World Series.

Sam Donnellon | The complete package
Tear up that offer, Mr. Wade. Add more digits to that waiting check with all the zeros on it, Mr. Buck. The price for Jim Thome just went up again. And again for all the right reasons.

Sam Donnellon | Like that nightmare in '93
If Ed Rendell was watching the World Series last night, he probably told his campaign committee, "I'd like to hit against this guy."

Sam Donnellon | Old-time Giants turn back clocks
Over in the corner, the Dunstons were having a family party. Shawon Dunston would pose with his mother for a picture. He would hug an uncle, a cousin, high-five a friend. Between each there would be a moment or two for him to collect himself again, to wipe eyes already swollen from numerous swipes from his sleeve.

Sam Donnellon | On top of the world
The name finally fits. Bonds is always dangerous. Bonds is often resourceful. There is no situation, no season that Barry Bonds feels uncomfortable in, not any longer.

Sam Donnellon | Cards' hopes lie with Uncle Matt
The kid stood in centerfield, center stage for the second consecutive day. Kannon Kile made it in time for batting practice yesterday, made it in time to shag flies and play catch with Uncle Matt and the rest of his late father's friends.
