RealCities Network selects OpenPages ContentWare 2.0 for Web publishing, content management

Boston - (February 9, 2000) ă | KnightRidder.com, the new business unit for all of Knight Ridder's Internet operations, has selected OpenPages ContentWare 2.0 for its RealCities Network, a national network of 30 RealCities.com regional hubs on the Web. Using OpenPages ContentWare, KnightRidder.com will be able to manage its pictures, text and multimedia objects across all its products and sites with a single editorial tool kit.

"Real Cities.com offers a unique combination of services for our users, because we're both very local and yet very deep in our content," said David DeMilo, vice president, technology development of KnightRidder.com. "OpenPages ContentWare gives us the perfect solution because it combines a robust database for content management with software for enterprise-wide collaboration that links every one of our 30 RealCities.com sites in one effort."

"OpenPages is thrilled to work with the Real Cities network," said Warren Huff, CEO of OpenPages, Inc. "RealCities.com is a model for Web publishing without the hassle of working page-by-page. We look forward to seeing OpenPages ContentWare give ReaCities.com the scalability to add cities and expand their services, no matter what their Web building needs are."

OpenPages ContentWare is designed specifically to give businesses the ability to build Web and print content simultaneously using one system rather than numerous incompatible point-solutions. It does so by equipping the enterprise with an integrated solution to manage all content-related processes including creation, workflow, and delivery to Web or print products. The digital assets of RealCities.com, such as text, graphics, photos, video clips, page templates, and URLs, will benefit from a world-class solution to handle all facets of the content management process.

OpenPages ContentWare integrates with today's most popular desktop applications along with custom application services. Writers, editors and designers benefit from ContentWare because they can use familiar applications, such as Microsoft Word, QuarkXpress, Pagemaker, and Adobe InDesign, to assign Web or print destinations to editorial elements, query the database or perform other workflow and monitoring functions. It does by combining a robust database and content management solution in one system, an industry first.
