STATE COLLEGE AND BEYOND
DayBreak
We recently received a press release about "The Nose: A Profile of Sex, Beauty, and Survival" by Gabrielle Glaser that contained the following "fascinating facts about the nose":
Walt Mills | The blues of autumn aren't washed away in display of colors
It felt like I spent most of last weekend standing in the rain. Maybe that was what gave me the blues. Saturday was the townwide yard sale in Spring Mills. At 7 a.m., it was still dark and the trees in the churchyard were dripping with rain. I was damp by the time the first customers wandered out to the side yard where the men were making breakfast on grills under the trees.

Telephone services let you call and request help
Out of a job, "Snooky" from Maryland turns to an 800 number. It's not an employment service, though. It's a 24-hour prayer line. The call reaches the home of an 89-year-old woman -- one of a legion of volunteers -- who writes down the woman's prayer request and asks God to help.

Funerals can be tricky for interfaith families
Marzuq Jaami got so upset that he walked out of his sister's funeral. The Muslim man said he could no longer listen to the Christian pastor's sermon. "Everything was about his way of seeing Jesus," he said. "I have never been so worn down, my spirit broken."

Clergy column | Angels help us maintain relationship with God
Scripture speaks a lot about angels; it even indicates a ranking of angels and archangels, seraphim and cherubim. The ranking seems to have less to do with power and authority and more to do with function. The word angel means "messenger" and their most important work appears to be that of delivering messages from God to man.

Senior Menus
Next week's menus for the Centre County Office of Aging are: Monday -- Roast beef sandwich, beef barley soup, mashed potatoes, bread, orange. Tuesday -- Chicken leg and thigh, scalloped potatoes, carrots, roll, angel food cake.

Volunteer Opportunities

Allen St.; and Thursday, Bellefonte Museum, 133 N. Allegheny St. For more information, visit the Web site at http://cvim.centreconnect.org.

Schools superintendent resigns The head of Cleveland's Roman Catholic schools, who was a leading proponent of the city's landmark school voucher program, has announced she will step down in June.

Fathering
Budgeting time with your family and time at your job can be a balancing act. Fathers generally find this issue difficult and usually changing as the kids get older and have more activities. One way to reduce stress in the conflict between the two is by developing a concept plan that gives you guideposts.

"ALL MY CHILDREN": Anna came to tell David of Vanessa's escape, and admitted she was concerned for his safety
"ALL MY CHILDREN": Anna came to tell David of Vanessa's escape, and admitted she was concerned for his safety. In the meantime, Leo fought with Vanessa at the cliff's edge while Trey overcame his vertigo long enough to save Greenlee. Adam agreed to let Liza help him be a better father to JR. After saving Sam from choking, Maria had a sudden recollection of David burying something on the beach. Brooke told Tad it was strange that Maria could recall handing Maddie to her after the plane crash, but...

Zooey Deschanel could soon be more than almost famous
Three people are on the poster for the movie "Abandon." If there were a fourth, it would be Zooey Deschanel. But if she keeps stealing scenes like she does in this film, she'll soon be on a movie poster -- all by herself.
