[Dreamworks]

Morphine. Like a dog eternally chasing its own tail. I mean, Morphine's debut, Good was, regardless of what the album title says, fucking awesome. No one had ever heard anything like it before. What an original sound. Cure For Pain, the follow-up, was exactly that. Feeling down? Pop in some Morphine. Sure it sounds a lot like Good, but who's listening? Unfortunately, by the band's third release, Yes, they were quickly becoming a No. And the weird stuff on side two was just plain bad. By this, their fourth record, the world collectively puts its head down and goes to sleep.

It's not really that the quality of the songs have deteriorated, it's just that it all sounds the same. They desperately need to alter their sound, and if they have to break up to do it, I don't think anyone's gonna care. In fact, after four identical records, it's about time, 'cause Morphine is like, drowning.

It's the perfect time, too. They haven't lost all their cool yet. There's still hope. So if they break up and all start new bands, they still have prestige. Of course, it's really about what you want to do musically, and if Morphine are content with their sound, I guess that's okay. But like a famous guy once said, "No one wants to hear that song again."
