Jockey rides nine stakes at Calder, four winners
ASSOCIATED PRESS

Jockey Cornelio Velasquez won the $400,000 Florida Stallion In Reality Stakes, one of his four victories at Calder Race course in Miami yesterday in which he rode in all nine stakes.

He captured the In Reality by 43/4 lengths aboard Trust N Luck. The winner was timed in 1:46.520 over 11/16 miles in a race for 2-year-olds. The winner paid $8.20, $5.40 and $3.80.

Velasquez's other victories came in the Calder Oaks, Spend A Buck Handicap and Shocker T. Handicap.

Ivanavinalot, ridden by M.R. Cruz, romped to a 133/4-length victory in the $400,000 Florida Stallion My Dear Girl Stakes. Ivanavinalot covered the 11/16 miles in 1:45.920. The winner paid $2.80, $2.60 and $2.10 in an event for 2-year-old fillies.

In a pair of $200,000 races, Cellars Shiraz won the Calder Oaks and Union Place, ridden by Eibar Coa, finished first in the Calder Derby.

Texas Glitter took the $100,000 Calder Turf Sprint Handicap. Pay The Preacher won the $100,000 Spend A Buck Handicap and Castlebrook was first in the $100,000 Shocker T. Handicap.

In two $75,000 stakes, Super Fuse won the Birdonthewire and Hummel took the Cassidy.

Belmont: Fisher Pond beat Irish Colonial by 41/2 lengths in the 109th Lawrence Realization at rainy Belmont Park in Elmont, N.Y. Fisher Pond, ridden by John Velazquez, ran 11/2 miles on the sloppy track in 2:301/5. Extra Check was third.

The rain forced the $150,000 race from the turf course to the main track, robbing it of it's Grade III status and more than half its field, the result of six late scratches.
