ATLANTA - East Lake Golf Club will become the primary host of the Tour Championship through a marketing deal with Coca-Cola that makes it the presenting sponsor of the PGA Tour's season-ending event.
Coca-Cola, which is based in Atlanta, agreed to a four-year deal Monday that runs through 2005, with an option for a six-year extension.
The Tour Championship has been played at East Lake in even-numbered years and Champions Golf Club in Houston in odd-numbered years since 1997.
Houston-based Dynegy was the presenting sponsor last year.
The event will be played at Champions again in 2003, but returns to East Lake for 2004 and 2005. Harding Park in San Francisco was supposed to get the Tour Championship in 2006, although it was not clear whether the course would be ready in time.
The Tour Championship is for the top 30 players on the PGA Tour money list.
Along with becoming a presenting sponsor, Coca-Cola will be the official soft drink of the PGA Tour, Senior PGA Tour and Buy.com Tour, and will be a significant sponsor of The First Tee program.
