CDT BUSINESS HEADLINES

'Can you hear her now?'
People stare when Stacy McGarr pulls up to a parking space in her white Ford Taurus station wagon. What catches their eyes? Maybe the car's 13 antennas. Since Dick Cheney became vice president, a subsidiary of his former company was chosen the exclusive contractor for overseas Army troop support and Navy construction despite being under federal investigation for fraud. That recommendation was ignored.

In a California city where the politics and the coffee come strong and hot, a November ballot initiative requiring cafes to sell only environmentally and socially correct brews is drawing mixed reaction.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

Sentiment is clear: Ethic must improve
The premise is simple: Hard-working entrepreneur wants to sell stock to help her business grow. She lines up a group of experts for her company's board, which ensures that management acts in the best interest of shareholders, and finds an investment banker.
