TODAY'S OPINION
Centre Daily Times
May no tuition hike bring shame
By Alvi O. Voigt"May no act of ours bring shame" are words and deeds that Penn State authorities must have forgotten.Penn State authorities, with the school's rubber-stamp board of trustees, are going to stab undergraduates with a whopping double-digit tuition increase this year, in spite of tuition taking a larger bite out of family income between 1980 and 2000, outpacing financial aid and state support. Hardest hit are poorest families. Shame.

Farms that hog markets and harm communities
By Daniel E. Brannen Jr.Attention, fellow stakeholders in food policy, environmental health and democracy. Senate Bill 1413, which has already passed the state Senate and may be voted on in the House as early as Monday, will pave the way for industrial animal factories to replace family farmers in Pennsylvania.

The line separating children, adults and sex is coming under assault
By David Warren SaxeSex and children? As much as one leads to the other, the two do not mix. As we learn more from the victims of horrific sexual abuse, we should not be surprised to find that those intent on engaging in sex with children will go to extreme measures to apply whatever deceptions necessary to find the objects of their sexual desires.

OPINION: Leonard Pitts Jr.

Use your 9/11 pain to combat complacency
Whatever monument is erected on those 16 acres in Manhattan will, I'm sure, do at least an adequate job of memorializing the atrocity that happened there. My concern is for the memorials that will be erected in 287 million hearts and minds.
