Hi, My Name is Jonny
[American Recordings]
Rating: 7.9

The debut album from this Wilmette, Illinois kid will smite you with its intoxicating pop melodies. The record's reminiscent of Matthew Sweet circa 1991, in that it's' incredibly pop. His cup floweth over with unforgettable melodies. Luckily, Polonsky (unlike the other guy) manages to hold on to his dignity.

Jonny opens with "Love Lovely Love" which is a terrific song about a stable relationship. It's probably the only one like that on the entire disc. The rest is filled with heartbreak, just like seventh grade. The difference is, it's approached with catchy songs, as opposed to puberty.
