Land of the Loops
Bundle of Joy
[Up]
Rating: 8.3
In the very same way that that suave Latino guy who dressed sharp and loved the ladies
(the feeling was always mutual), Land of the Loops' crazy-assed musical journey swings
by your house party, livens the place up, and gets weird while it's at it.
The psychotic rhythms and samples of Bundle of Joy make you wanna get up, dance,
and wet your pants as your CD laser slowly works its way through this long-playing
debut from Alan Sutherland (aka Land of the Loops).
Samples from old kiddie records and naff disco albums of the '70s and '80s somehow spice
the record up dramatically, feeling overall like a lost episode of The Brady Bunch
where special guest star Beck Hansen spends the weekend and introduces the kids to a
real groovy thing called PCP.
By the time you reach the end of this hour- long, sixteen- track psychedelic explosion,
your head's damn near ready to burst open. If you're feeling down, pop on the
Bundle of Joy, let your fingers do the walking, and your feet do the dancing.
