Goodnight Star
Goodnight Star
[Plastiqmusic/Tooth and Nail]
Rating: 1.2
Goodnight Star makes dense Christian- themed techno pop, heavily influenced
by the melodic stylings of '80s glam bots like the Human League and Spandau
Ballet. Two of the members thank God in their liner notes. They sing of
their love of God in a fey mono- syllabic meter. Heavily processed keyboards
and effects buzz and whir over such priceless lines as:
"I'm the Creator of your days/ Come on give to me/ Little action, Little
Faith, I'm the one who gives you strength." ("Creator")
"He is the only One/ Consistent enough to never leave you/ He is the only
One/ Who offers hope through salvation." ("Are you Hurting")
"He's my God/ He's my God/ God is Good." ("He's my God")
Full disclosure: I didn't listen to this entire record because I had this
insatiable urge to snort huge amounts of cocaine, ram a crucifix up my butt
and masturbate over an array of bibles all at once. Go figure.
