House of GVSB
[Touch and Go]
Rating: 7.3

The word I always hear in connection with GVSB is "sexy." Why? The music isn't very sexy. The guys in the band don't shake my muffin (not that I have one). But, you know, come to think of it, frontman Eli Janney dated Kerry Kinney from The State and that sounds pretty sexy to me. It's probably why he also got to do their theme song.

House of GVSB is not unlike the House of Blues, minus Dan Aykroyd and Gary Busey. The drinks are overpriced and everybody's cooler than you are. All that aside, it's a pretty good disc. I dig the groove on "Cash Machine," the only song that comes close to being sexy. "Super-fire" has a blistering guitar riff at the beginning that was sort of like looking at someone who was sexy; luckily, I had a mirror close by and.... well, I'm awesome.

Speaking of mirrors, it sounds to me like GVSB = Duran Duran + 3 kilos of really excellent cocaine. That's not very sexy, but again, neither is GVSB. Nice House, though.
