Cover Art Freaky Chakra
Blacklight Fantasy
[Astralwerks]
Rating: 6.4

With an almost orchestral feel, Freaky Chakra's electric cyclical circus comes home to haunt. Blacklight Fantasy serves as the entity which chases every living spirit back into their futuristic black hole. A knight in shining velcro from which nothing can escape. And yet, Chakra's enviromental soundscape is so sterile that for just a second, you might mistake your baggy pants and baby doll tee for a hospital gown.

Freaky's stuff is by no means interesting music to listen to. He never intended you to sit down with his record and relax; that's not the type of thing one's Blacklight Fantasy would probably entail. Instead, think Tron on an ecstacy binge at three a.m. Yeah, that's better. Rather than dance alone in your bedroom, try this shit with 300 of your sweatiest friends in the dark at 200 decibels.

"But, man, all these songs sound the same!" Well, you're missing the point, kid. The rhythms of each track and the noises therein are a little different on each track. Think of Blacklight Fantasy as an electronic opus with twelve movements. Now you understand.
