February
Tomorrow Is Today
[Carrot Top]
Rating: 8.0
Hey, gang. Tomorrow is today. What does that mean? How come album
titles keep getting more and more vague? Tomorrow is not today, and one
glance at the calendar should set you straight. Now, with that in mind,
February. Those of you outside of Minneapolis probably don't know much
about February. They're a dream pop band sick of being tagged as a
dream pop band, so for the follow up to their Even The Night Can Tell You
From a Star EP, they make like a three headed love child of Curve,
The Cranberries and Garbage. It works, too. February's blissed out on a
love vibe (and if you were as cute as frontwoman Amy Turany, you'd be
too.) Unlike many of the bands in the same league, they've gotten a
few things right, most notably the horn section that swings on "Pink
Slippers in Antarctica." Bassist Steve Saari also gets to swap vocals
with Turany on "Make a Sound." The only real complaint I have with the
disc is that it's about four songs too long. A little tightening and it
flows much better, but I still expect big things from Feburary in the
future. Shit, if Garbage can get on the radio...
