Cover Art Cake Like
Bruiser Queen
[Vapor]
Rating: 4.3

They say we are living in the era of the "female singer" where sultry, sexy voices are attached to barbie doll bodies and tortured lives. Meet Cake Like. This trio of gals are doing what 80% of most other bands are doing -- forcing our grimaced faces into regurgitated puddles of music; sometimes chunky, sometimes creamy, but always steaming with mediocrity.

Half the songs on Cake Like's Bruiser Queen have promising rhythms and stand-outish bass qualities but are ruined by dreadful lyrics and irritating vocals. The other songs contain decent lyrics sung by soothing voices, but fall short, never finding the unity that a successful song might maintain.

They look Josie and the Pussy Cats but their music has all the appeal of a feline coughing up hairballs. How do you say, "Where's the used bin?" en francais?
