Cover Art Bjork
Telegram
[Elektra]
Rating: 7.9

She's small, Icelandic, and hangs out with Tricky. It must be a great album, right? Well, yes and no. As is the problem with most remix albums, Telegram suffers from an identity crisis. Nearly every track is an original and worthwhile interpretation of its Post predecessor, but the whole turns out to be a bit of a schizophrenic conglomeration. Ranging from the techno-infused "Cover Me", "Enjoy" and "Army of Me" to the tripped-out minimalism of "Headphones" and "You've Been Flirting Again" to the hiphop-flavored "I Miss You", then finally the strings of the Brodsky Quartet on "Hyperballad", it's a variety of eclectic sounds that look back to Bjork's Post only for inspiration.

It makes for an odd listen, but if you can handle the transitions and love the spazzy ex-Sugarcube, go for it.
