Cover Art Barry Adamson
As Above So Below
[Mute]
Rating: 8.1

Barry Adamson doesn't get a good review just because he's my respite from that piece of shit of a movie, Armageddon, although if I can save just one soul from seeing this horrible, horrible film, well... that'd be awesome. Word to the wiseguy: you best put your $8 into the Adamson disc, a typically groovy, sultry, and sticky affair.

As Above keeps the groove fed on the Bryan Ferry tip, laying down in a bed of flowers before pooping in it. "Can't Get Loose," the lead-off cut, is a typical slab of swagger, shuffling across the floor and saying hello. Adamson also does his obligatory Leonard Cohen story-hour on "Jazz Devil," and his equally obligatory cut-and-paste dance track on "Goddess of Love," and I mean both of those in a good way. Sure, you can always expect this sort of output from the guy I simply call "The Man," but on the quality scale, As Above is fatter than Aunt Grace and looser than a cheerleader. Recommended. And solid.
