Cover Art Panasonic
Kulma
[NovaMute]
Rating: 6.6

The one word you'll read in every written piece about Panasonic is "minimalist." That's a bit of an understatement, actually. I'll be honest -- Kulma is not very stimulating in a musical sense, but Panasonic have made the world well aware that it's possible to set a strange mood with a drum machine as your only tool.

Whether or not you'll like this disc depends on who you are as a music fan. If you've never heard of Brian Eno or John Cage, it's not likely that Panasonic is going to be your cup of tea. On the other hand, if this whole ambient/ electronic thing seems more exciting to you with every passing second, Panasonic gives it a bizarre twist.

By reducing the music on the record to a simple, urgent, electronic drumbeat and the occasional sound effect, Panasonic have created a subtle soundtrack to that feeling you get when you've just realized you're late for something very important. Oh, fuck. Gotta go.
