Cover Art Throneberry
Trot Out The Encores
[Alias]
Rating: 5.0

I hate giving out 50% reviews because it means that the band got it half right. Throneberry's case is a lot like that of Mother Love Bone, the defunct Seattle band who gave us one astoundingly great song, "Chloe Dancer/ Crown of Thorns," and then gave us some pretty generic rock and roll. Throneberry has more than one good song, but they do best to stick to the slower, powerful pieces like "New Year's Routine" and "Sealboy" than the "rawk" stuff. The vocals are very reminiscent of another hero from their homestate of Ohio, Dave Thomas of Pere Ubu. Their songs just aren't as good. But, really, the album isn't that bad. In fact, I see lots of effort being put forth and I look forward to their next release. They may have it down by then.
